Mountaineering
Mountaineering started in the Alps 200 years ago, and still keeps its spirit of discovery, in a natural environment that can be sometime very pleasant, sometime more wild. What we are looking for there is up to each of us, either physical achievement or self control, it is an upward progression, to reach a summit or discover a new area. Security is an essential condition to enjoy mountaineering. We propose initiation days to review the basic techniques for climbing, walking with crampons, knots and rope manoeuvre. The chosen route will also be adjusted to the conditions. Few suggestions: Moiry area:
Pointe de Mourti, Aiguilles de la Lé and the other summits from the Moiry area. Ideal for an introduction to rock and ice climbing, as well as progression on ridgesArolla area:
Mont Blanc de Cheilon, Pigne d’Arolla, Evèque
These summits, between 3700 m and 3900m, will be climbed starting from the Dix and Vignette mountain huts.Mont Vélan:
From the Vélan mountain hut this climb is an interesting ice climb, with good view on Mont Blanc and Grand Combin.Mont Blanc:
This summit rising over the Alps with its 4810 m elevation is an easy climb on the normal route, but is demanding and requires a good physical training. |
